The Ultimate Outdoor Survival Gear List

Survival Skills To Learn
I say this a lot, but I don’t think it can be said enough. The average person can last up to 3 weeks without food, 3 days without water, 3 hours without shelter in a harsh environment (cold), and 3 minutes without Oxygen. It is essential to focus on these rules when packing your survival kit.

What Is Essential Survival Gear?

Essential survival gear is the equipment you will use to keep yourself alive in the event of an emergency. This could be anything from getting lost in the wilderness to surviving a natural disaster. The survival gear you buy now will aid in your survival later. I’m not saying you have to spend a lot of money, but if you buy low-quality items not, you might come to regret it later. Ultimate Outdoor Survival GearNo matter if are you an avid hunter, fisherman or hiking enthusiast, or you’re just someone who wants to be prepared for a natural disaster. Having the right survival gear will help you deal with the elements when the times comes?. Being able to deal with the unexpected can be a matter of life and death. Recently, the body of 66-year-old, Geraldine Largay, a veteran hiker was found after he lost his way on the Appalachian Trail in Maine and died after 26 days of heroic survival. My point is that you just never know when you will need these tools. Your chances of returning safe depend on your instinct and the items in your survival kit. There are so many essentials that it was hard for me to put together a list of only 10 items, but here are the 10 crucial items I believe you will need in your survival backpack. These items could be the difference between getting back home or going under.

What Are The Top 10 Survival Items?

1- First Aid Kit

The most important outdoor survival gear to have in your backpack is a first-aid kit. Disinfectants and bandages can be life-saving in case of an accidental injury by preventing blood-loss. Having a few days’ worth of prescription medication is also a good idea.

2- Stainless Steel Vessel or Cup

Also crucial is to keep a stainless-steel vessel or cup in your backpack so that you keep yourself hydrated, especially in survival situations involving extreme heat. It may help to collect water that you extract from cacti or the early-morning dew.

3- Water Filtration and Purification

Drinking contaminated water is a sure-fire way to make a tough situation worse. Keep a stock of good water purification tablets such as Katadyn Micropur MP1.

4- Fixed-blade Knife

A Gerber StrongArm fixed blade knife is an outdoor survival gear of unparalleled utility and will help you cut branches to lash into a hut or cut meat from the non-edible parts.

5- Handheld Flashlight

Nightfall will increase the risk to your safety and a handheld flashlight or a headlamp is crucial to navigate the treacherous forest floor and avoid stepping on that snake. Pack extra sets of batteries as well.

6- Wool Blanket and Warm Clothing

In survival situations involving extreme cold, frostbite and hypothermia can quickly set in if the body’s core temperature plummets too quickly. Even deserts get awfully cold at night, so a wool blanket and an extra pair of dry clothes are crucial for insulation.

7- Fire Starters

Lighters and dry matches or magnesium strips are essential to be able to easily start a fire, whether for cooking, warmth or defense.

8- Dry Tinder Bundle

If the wood and leaves that you’ve collected are wet, it won’t matter how many sparks you can create. Having a tinder bundle in an airtight box helps to give sparks for those first few seconds of the blaze to burn wood.

9- Paracord Rope (50 ft)

Whether it is for securing your tent or getting down more easily from your tree house, a strong, durable rope is crucial.

10- Fishing Tools

Living and moving by the water is a good way to survive as our ancestors did. Have some fishing gear handy.
